From 11 to 13 May 2026, in Tulcea, the Danube Delta National Institute for Research and Development (DDNI Tulcea), coordinator of the Project IASON+ – “Observatory of Invasive Alien Species and Network Development for Assessing the Impact of Climate Change and the Contextual Evaluation of Ecosystem Services in Protected Delta Areas of the Black Sea Basin” (Project Code: BSB00174, https://iasonplus-bsb.eu/), organised the International Conference of the IASON+ project. The project is funded by the European Union through the Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme, with a total budget of €1,396,112.46.
The event brought together members of the project consortium, researchers, specialists, and other relevant stakeholders in a setting dedicated to presenting the latest research findings, analysing their long-term impact, and exploring future perspectives for development and international cooperation.
The conference took place as part of the events marking a century of excellence in scientific research in the Danube Delta, under the title: “The History and Future of Wetland Health – 100 Years of Research for Sustainable Management in the Danube Delta”, organised by DDNI Tulcea in partnership with the Eco-Museum Research Institute „Gavrilă Simion” (ICEM Tulcea) and the „Grigore Antipa„ National Museum of Natural History in Bucharest.
The two events brought together representatives of academic institutions, central and local public authorities, the National Authority for Research, the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve Authority, non-governmental organisations, as well as national and international experts and partners working in the fields of research, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.
